Out Today -- Stephen King's JOYLAND!

Set in a small-town North Carolina amusement park in 1973, Joyland tells the story of the summer in which college student Devin Jones comes to work as a carny and confronts the legacy of a vicious murder, the fate of a dying child, and the ways both will change his life forever.

"I love crime, I love mysteries, and I love ghosts. That combo made Hard Case Crime the perfect venue for this book, which is one of my favorites. I also loved the paperbacks I grew up with as a kid, and for that reason, we’re going to hold off on e-publishing this one for the time being. Joyland will be coming out in paperback, and folks who want to read it will have to buy the actual book."Stephen King

I read this book and loved it.  My review here.

Can't wait to get my copy. I grew up in the years King did and find we've enjoyed some of the books and authors(yeah Richard Matheson). Usually Kings books entertain me to the "enth" degree; my only complaint is the curse/dirty words that just pierce my brain with aggravation(I know, I know, ya take the good with the bad if ya wanna read 'em). I am looking forward to your next book due out in July.....really ejoyed the first on! Thanks Mel for this blog.

Thanks Mel for alerting us to these books and authors, yourself included. I have just started reading the Travis McGee novels.....I did not read them as a teen for who know why BUT, boy I am enjoying them now. Staring with number one, now on number 5 and counting(also started re-reading the Matt Helm series by Donald Hamilton).....sorry for the long yapping!

My pleasure, Gerald. I love the Travis McGee books and have promised myself I will re-read those and the other MacDonald books getting released as ebooks this month. Lots of good reading there, and the Matt Helm books too.

I love the Travis McGee books! And really enjoyed your review of Joyland.

We have a mutual friend--Janie Turnbull. I live in Yukon temporarily and I'm so sorry we haven't met, Mel.

I wonder if you'd be a guest blogger for me. Here are the guidelines if you're interested.
