The third book is great! It worries me that you say you are waiting to see if you can do any more in the series because that means you haven't started on the fourth book yet. I don't know if I can wait. There are so many good direction you can go with the story. I still think you should write for Warhammer 40k because they follow a lot of the same ideas as these books. Thanks for another good installment!
Since FLAGSHIP GAMES is kind of on the ropes right now, no one knows what that's going to do to future licensing of novels. We'll just have to cross our fingers.
Mel, Just finished the book. I kept thinking for the last 150pgs or so there was no way you were going to finish it. With out giving anything away I really liked how it ended. I think there is so much to explore with more books. The story created so much mythology that was hinted to in the book that needs to be explored. I might need to get the game to get my fix. I'm also going to be reading some of your other works.
I have to say I loved the book all three of them in fact. I finished reading it on Sunday and It was great. I hope the licensing agreement goes thru. I can understand about the problems with flagship the game is beautiful but the game play is kind of off. I really hope you can continue writing in this series. You have made too many enjoyable caracters for it to end. By the way stop by Gen-Con in Indianapolis next year I think you will have a lot of fans wanting a some signed copies. Plus its not the Comic-con but it does have scantely clad ladies in costume. LOL
I want more, they were so good I wold stay up late into the night reading them. Your creativity and your knowledge of London's history is very impressive. I agree tha you should mak a second trilogy, I was kind of dissapointed the way you ended Covenent that way. I mean, we don't know if the Templar, Cabalists, or Hunters find any of the Truths and if they use them to defeat the demons and close the Hellgates that have appeared all over the world. I wonder what it would feel like if you woke right next to a Hellgate one morning?
Let me start off by just saying, "Wow..." These books are truly amazing. That being said I cannot help feeling extremely disappointed in the last book. The first two were amazing, each page was another adrenaline rush. The third book felt to me as if it were being rushed. I was left hungry for more and even after reading it a second time, it still left me empty. Why Mel? I had such high hopes. Please tell me that my faith in you has not been misplaced. Are you going to give us more? I certainly hope so, I remain a loyal fan...for now.
I quit reading from sixth grade all the way up till about nine months ago. Thats over ten years. And it was the first book in this series that brought me back into it. These novels where amazing. I do agree with ian when he said the third felt rushed but amazing none the less. I really hope you continue the series bc i am left craving more. Gaiden9 also said your writing resembles that of some of warhammer 40k, i really agree with that too, weaponry and style of fighting are alike.
just finished the book, totally rocks! even better than starwars trilogy!
i'm a hellgate gamer, and not to spoil it for others, the Truths are in the game but done with a poor taste. it would be great though if you could write the next trilogy based on the game begining on 2028.
i would also love to see this trilogy made into movies, and hope the director follow tightly to the novel cause going any other way will just spoil it.
@gaiden9: if you want to play the game as a fix to the book, dun bother! all you will get is disppointment. the book is what i wished the game have been!
I read all of them in English - I wasn't able to wait for the German translations, the story was too exiting. A great trilogy! *thumbsup* I would be very happy to read about Simon, Leah, Nathan, Warren and all the other Templars, Cabalists and Hunters in the future again (independently from the faith of FSS and the PC game), so I'm hoping that it will be possible to get a license for another trilogy. :-))
I just finished the 3rd book and had to find out if a 4th book was in the works for the trilogy. I was saddened by your news that nothing is currently planned. But I have hopes, just because a game is bad doesn't mean the IP is. Good luck to you (and us) getting the green light.
for my typo error above, the game timeline begins from 2038, not 2028.
@thehaggis: the ideal and concept is definitely one of the best and refreshing in the recent years in gaming and even movies. thats why players like me felt so much potential in the game but sadly...
What an amazing plot line! I was highly dissapointed in the ending of the third book though, given that the cover said "trilogy", not "there will be a fourth book". There are so many plot holes I don't know what to do! Do the truths even become plot relevant? Does the war end? We'll never know because it wouldn't fit in the third book apparently =/
<3 your work Mel, please fight to get us a fourth book!

Mel, Great Work! I have been a fan of yours for years through your Dungeons & Dragons novels. I just bought Hellgate #3, and I am greatly looking forward to reading it.
I am sorry to hear about the difficulties that Flagship Games has been experiencing, and I am sad to say that it is a sign of our times. I wish the employees that lost their jobs and the management/owner staff the Best of Luck! I wish they all continue on to much greater successes. I have greatly enjoyed Hellgate: London so far. They truely are capable of even more success.
Keep up the Great Work, Mel, and I look forward to your future novels.
I love to see demons and magic up against science and tech. I just wanted to see the demons get their butts handed to them tactically with all the new toys you added to the mix. Tactically they could own the demons numbers and all, you could have expanded the scope by so much with the nodes, humanity could win with those alone. They could be deployed as a fence, protect artillary emplacements... basically they could be used tactically to end game on the demon hordes. They don't have to shield entire cities.
Quite frankly you gave the templar the ability to wind up the storyline halfway through the book. It could have been done cleanly with a happy ending to boot. Yet we got strung along without really wrapping up the scenario.
I don't mind open ended in a universe like forgotten realms where you know there will always be more books, but if hellgate books are in and out on the whim of some game company.... well the guys in armor shouldn't have to run away as the ending to it all.
This is as dissapointing as the rifts novels that only went one trilogy =(

Thanks.. I absolutely enjoyed the 3 books. I do hope there is time to for you to write a 2nd trilogy.

I just bought it at Walmart. It is next on my shelf to read.

Read the first two. Will have to pick this one up.
